Michael Lamonato will never forget his first Formula 1 experience. He hated every minute of it. The cars were too fast. The engines were too loud. The crowds were too dense. It wasn’t for him. But sometimes you don’t realise when the bug bites you. On that apparently lamentable day in the Albert Park sunshine, Formula 1 had imperceptibly inserted itself underneath his skin. Then, not yet 10 years old, by his teenage years, Michael had developed what would turn out to be a lifelong affliction.
